Writing has never been a strong suit of mine. My passion has always been teaching. To be honest, the only reason why I signed up for a dual in Writing Arts is because this was the only program that worked perfectly with my work schedule. I do not regret being in this program for I have learned a lot about myself as a writer and as person. I’ve picked up techniques that I can use when I am teaching my students to read and write. I’ve learned about different technologies and ways that I can use them in the classroom. I do appreciate everything I have learned and I do feel that I have improved as a writer, but if I were ever to take writing as a profession, I would need to practice more and I would take a different variety of classes.
As I reflect back on this course, Writing, Research and Technology, I can say I struggled a bit. I am terrible with deadlines and rewriting. I was taught to think outside the box and use a personal twitter as a professional story. That is something I have never thought would ever happen. I have learned and I am getting better with the deadlines and I am picking up mistakes in writing that I would normally not see or notice. I found it extremely helpful to present my twitterive and hear the feedback from my peers and from you, Professor Mangini. It sort of felt like a second chance to re organize my thinking and take advice to help tell my story. As far as technology, I loved learning how to use a Weebly. It has been extremely helpful for this course and other courses. I can use this in my classroom to connect with my parents and students.
My first impression of this course was “What did I get myself into?” I was like this with every writing class. I made it known to you right away that I am not a writer! I was relived to hear that you understood that we were mostly teachers with a dual in writing. I thank you for taking that into consideration. I was not as intimated after we discussed that. I still struggled to read and comprehend the readings. I did the best I could to decode and reflect on what I read. Sometimes, I got frustrated and wrote basic thoughts. I know a true writer would go into extreme detail and be precise and make connections that weren’t even in there. After I got into the groove of the course, I felt comfortable expressing my thoughts on twitter and in my blog. I learned a lot of Food Inc and thought it was excited to do a collaboration work project with something relating to that movie. The weebly was extremely helpful for this project again because the three of us worked together to make that and it wouldn’t have been possible without knowing about weebly. I will definitely take with me the knowledge I learned from this course with me to my future classrooms and assignments.
I am very satisfied with the knowledge I carry with me from this class. I have grown with my writing. I think my personality came out in my twitterive and my collaboration project. Is it that obvious that I am a dog lover? As you explore my website, you will see my blog, my twitterive, my collaboration and a little bit about me. With each different assignment it all connects together because it is my own writing and interests. For these projects I did the best I can to express Chasey’s point of view, and to show the dangerous of grocery brand dog food. I kept it intriguing by using video and pictures. I am very proud of how my work turned out. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did writing these pieces of work.
